Research in the Department is focused on development of formation principles of and electronic components for optical and fiber-optic communication systems and systems for collection, processing and transmission of information:
- Study of interactions between light and acoustic fields with complex space-time structure and development of acousto-optical elements and devices;
- Study of effects of holographic images and signals recording in photorefractive and photopolymers for optical storage elements and devices, optical processors, multiplexors and multi-wavelength fiber-optical demultiplexor communication systems;
- Study of high-temperature superconductive film structures and propagation on acousto-electronic and magnetostatic waves in such structures for development of functional cryoelectronics;
- Study of nonlinear-optical effects in waveguide-optical structures for development of fully optical photonics.
